Resources for Continuing the Conversation
How much time did you spend on your various
activities today? How much time did you devote to exercising
or having breakfast, or reading a newspaper, or listening to
the radio, or making a lunch, or downloading a podcast, or
scrolling through your Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram
timelines?
Now don’t worry. I’m not asking so that I can
segue into some awful attempt at shaming you into spending
more time reading the bible. No, I want you to do something
that’s even better for you than that. I want you to devote
time today — right now even! — to some honest self-reflection
and examination. But wait! There’s more! I’m even going to
offer you a mechanism, a tool, to aid you in that time of
honest self-reflection and examination. It’s a simple tool
that most of use all the time.
I want you to watch a video on YouTube.

Bible
Study - Via Zoom
THE BIBLE FOR
CURIOUS PEOPLE - ON ZOOM
Join us Tuesday mornings in June at 10:30am on
Zoom as we explore the book of Exodus.
Reading Assignment for Tuesday, August 4th:
Exodus Chapters 35-40, plus any introduction and notes your
bible provides.
Questions to consider:
•
What do you make of the emphasis on sabbath in Chapter
35 in the midst of all this work on the tabernacle?
• The phrase “as the LORD commanded Moses”
appears over and over again. Why do you think that is?
• What questions does this text raise for
you?
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak this class
is meeting online through Zoom on Tuesday mornings at
10:30AM. Please contact Pastor Dave (pastordave@woodridgeumc.org) to join the conversation. It is a great way to
stay connected and all are welcome.
No prior bible reading or knowledge or expertise
needed. No question is dumb and no one is forced to read the
bible in one particular way. We will all learn as we go along
exploring what the text says, what it leaves unsaid, what
history and tradition tell us about the text, and how our own
experience influences our reading.
WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY ON ZOOM
The Wednesday Bible study class on Wednesdays at
6:00 p.m. on ZOOM. We will be studying
the bible verses for the next Sunday's service. If
you want to be a part of the Wednesday class, please contact
Pastor Danita.
Office
Hours
Our Summer
Office hours are in effect. The church office will be open Monday through
Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. However,
because our building is not ready for full activity, we ask
that you call
before visiting. The church office
will be closed the week of August 17th.
Don't
Miss Our Next Call
In our ever changing situation, reminders and
changes will also come to you as recorded phone messages from
Pastor Dave. Calling Post is one of the tools we
use to keep you informed about, and connected to, Woodridge
UMC. Please take a moment to add the Calling Post phone
number to your Contacts, so you recognize it the next time
one of the pastors calls to update you about events in the
life of our congregation: 405-308-4474.
CHURCH
DATABASE AND DIRECTORY
One of the
ways to make sure you don't miss our call is updating your
information in our database. We were in the process of
updating the church directory when we moved to online
services. We would like to make certain that we are
able to reach everyone as person to person contact is still difficult.
Please click on the
link here and fill out the form that you are directed
to. We know that many people have switched to only
having a cell phone or changed email services and would like
to have the most up to date information, so we can stay in
touch with our church family. We would like to be able
reach everyone in your household, so there is a place for
their information, too. If you have any problems
or questions, please contact the church office here.

Prayer
Booklet For Times Like These from Our Conference
Don’t worry
about anything? That’s pretty hard to do these days! Yet it
is when we pray that we are able to pour our hearts and minds
out to God. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March,
the NIC Discipleship Task Force asked clergy and laity to
submit daily prayers, which were shared on the conference
social media sites and website. Those prayers have been
assembled into an online booklet, "Times Like These –
Prayers of the People," for your reflection and devotion.

Please respond to Steve Malinowski here if you can make it. We will be supplying masks
