Dining Out in
July with Pastor Danita
A few weeks ago in
response to the preaching of our pastors, some of us gathered
for a meal in places that were "different" for us
(pushing us beyond our comfort zones).
On Wednesday,
July 31st from 5 pm to 7 pm we
will gather at VIP
Thai, 3520 Seven Bridges Drive, Woodridge,
IL 60517 for Thai food. VIP Thai
is located next to Coldstone Creamery off of Route
53. It would be helpful to let Pastor Danita know if
you will be joining us but it is not
mandatory. Let's have a good time and try
something new!!
Friendship UMC Movie Nights
In order to foster
conversation & education, Friendship UMC invites you to
watch 2 movies that highlight some of the social issues facing
churches today. Stay for a short discussion following the
feature. Older youth are also welcome. Safe space guaranteed!
Let’s talk!
“An Act
of Love” - July 31st & August 2nd at 7pm
In 2013, a pastor of the UMC was put on trial for officiating
his son’s same sex wedding. This documentary chronicles
the family’s struggle & the movement for LGBTQ equality in
the Methodist church.

Police Department Open House and National Night
Out
The Woodridge Police
Department is hosting the annual Open House on Tuesday, August 6 from
2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 1 Plaza Drive. The Open
House is an opportunity for the Woodridge Police Department to
say thank you to residents for having an active partnership to
maintain a safe community. The Open House will feature a tour
of the station, squad car demonstrations and photos, CSI-style
fingerprinting simulations, and more!
The Open House coincides with National Night Out - a national
campaign that promotes community partnerships. The National
Night Out event encourages residents to plan block-party events
in their neighborhood to enhance the relationship between
neighbors. If you're having a block party, please fill out an
application to let the Woodridge Police Department know and an
officer will try to stop by for a squad car demonstration for
the kids.
This Open House is a nice, family-friendly activity that
provides more insight into the public safety operations of our
community.
